Being The Lifeblood Of A Company

The first time I walked through the PCE Promotions door, there were three people in the whole office, barley any furniture as it was a temporary suite, and I remember being slightly annoyed that day as the new shoes I bought for the interview squeaked every time I took a step. I knew this job interview was a gamble for me because the opening was as a recruiter, and I had no experience in recruiting whatsoever. My background was mostly in the medical field and retail, but I needed this job. Working for PCE Promotions has given me the chance to be creative, and gain more confidence in my abilities, as well as muscle definition from dragging 5-gallon water jugs up two flights of stairs so everyone has something to drink.

The first few days, my hands would shake when I would talk with someone over the phone, and I was constantly being pushed out of my comfort zone. It was a constant struggle between wanting to learn and succeed in something new but also trying to keep the nerves out of my voice. What I hadn’t learned yet was I had a huge group supporting me, people in other states that were exactly where I was at some point or another. Having those incredible people there to ask questions to and to see what makes them so amazing at their job gave me a goal to work toward, hope that over time being nervous was going to fade, and more confidence that I could truly do well in this line of work if I was willing to put the work in.

When I accepted this position, I didn’t realize how important it was in helping the company, my co-workers, and the clients we work with grow. Being able to bring in new faces to the office allows us to gain more donors for the non-profits, it gives my co-workers a better chance at a promotion, and it plays a part in helping PCE be successful. As time went on, I was able to see the domino effect my success or failure had on the people around me and it constantly gives me the push I need to keep trying even when I have an off day.

Without the opportunity, I wouldn’t have had the chance to help create a company logo, aid in the growth of a new business, put my stamp on a welcoming office environment, meet the truly wonderful people I work with, and contribute to something that is bigger than myself. I may not be out in the field raising money for the non-profits we represent, but in my own way I am able to help the company and my co-workers reach our goals.
